A Downloaded Brochure Is a Snapshot
22 March 2026Your Website Form Should Know Which Yacht They Mean
2 April 2026A multilingual listing raises questions that a language selector cannot answer. Here are the decisions we would discuss with a brokerage before building the translation workflow.
Does each language need its own specifications?
Usually the approved technical record should supply the common facts. Translate labels and narrative descriptions while preserving vessel identity, units and confirmed values. A translated paragraph should not become a second database of equipment claims.
Who checks an assisted translation?
Assign a person who can assess meaning, not just fluent wording. A yacht specialist may need to check equipment terminology while an editor reviews the language. Decide who has authority to mark the version ready for publication.
Can the source text change after approval?
It can, and the other languages then need attention. Track which translation belongs to which source version. A small correction to a specification can matter more than a large stylistic rewrite. Do not treat every saved translation as permanently current.
What does the visitor see while a language is being reviewed?
Agree on this before launch. The page might show the approved source language with a clear label, or the affected translation might remain unpublished. The appropriate choice depends on the website and audience. Silent contradictions between languages are harder for the team to explain.
Should PDFs use the same approval rules?
Yes, if they are generated from the listing. A translated PDF needs approved labels and descriptions too. Test the longest translated model name, a missing optional section and a specification correction. Text expansion can affect layout even when the facts remain correct.
What should we bring to the project discussion?
Bring a listing in its original language, a translated version, and an example that changed after publication. Show who prepared and approved each. Those records give us something concrete to work through when planning listing management and PDF generation.
