Why Long Equipment Lists Break PDF Layouts
9 March 2026A Downloaded Brochure Is a Snapshot
22 March 2026Yes, if the selection is designed for comparison. Combining three complete brochures into one large file does not necessarily make the choice easier. The buyer still has to find equivalent information across different pages.
Consider a shortlist of three yachts. The broker wants the buyer to choose which ones are worth viewing. The document should make those differences understandable while giving the broker space to explain why each vessel is included.
Choose a small set of common fields
Begin with the questions the buyer is trying to answer. The relevant fields could include vessel type, length, year, location and approved price wording. Cabin layout or another specification may matter for a particular brief. Use the information your team has confirmed and keep units visible.
Not every field will be available for every yacht. An agreed missing-information label is clearer than inventing a value or leaving the reader to interpret an empty cell. The selection should show where a further question needs to be asked.
The table below is an illustrative document structure, not a comparison of real yachts. It makes unknown information visible without making up specifications.
| Comparison field | Illustrative yacht A | Illustrative yacht B | Illustrative yacht C |
|---|---|---|---|
| Viewing location | Confirmed marina | To be confirmed | Confirmed marina |
| Price wording | Approved asking price | Price on request | Approved asking price |
| Layout note | Checked description | Checked description | Awaiting review |
Give each vessel a recognisable place
Names, model information and a consistent order help readers move between the summary and more detailed material. A link to the current listing can provide additional context where the document format and workflow allow it.
The broker’s introductory note can be personal without changing the underlying specifications. Keep that note separate from the approved listing data and define whether it needs review before the selection is sent.
Try the selection with a real conversation
Ask whether the document supports the next decision. Can the buyer identify the differences relevant to them? Is the contact route clear? Can the broker regenerate the selection when a yacht becomes unavailable? These are practical tests for the PDF workflow.
A custom selection document can sit between the buyer conversation and the individual yacht brochures. It earns its place by making the next discussion easier, rather than simply adding another file to the exchange.
